BUILDING A MOVEMENT
At the 2017 Inaugural Goalkeepers event which was happening in tandem with the United Nations General Assembly, Melinda Gates hosted a keynote and panel discussion with notable guests such as Malala Yousafzai, Rotimi Olawale, Gulalai Ismail, Nick Kristof, Laurel Weldon, and Leymah Gbowee. The keynote opened with an introductory video focused on the idea that women are the agents of change with enormous untapped potential to drive progress for everyone. It was followed by individual breakouts and a panel discussion about today’s movements that organize women and engage.

Goalkeepers Goals
The “Goalkeepers” report tracks 18 data points from the Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as a vision for where the world should be by 2030. It touts improvements, like reducing the number of people living below the poverty line, increasing access to contraceptives, and curbing the number of deaths related to HIV.
But the report is also meant to be a word of warning to governments considering cutting programs that provide aid to the developing world.
